Certificate II Veterinary Nurse/Customer Care/Trainee Nurse – Currently on Parental leave
Laura is another of our staff to come from a medical reception background, having spent four years in this role prior to joining us at Gawler Animal Hospital. In her case, however, she had long since held a burning desire to be involved in veterinary practice. To this end, she had been studying part-time to become a veterinary nurse. When the opportunity arose to join us, she jumped at the chance.
Laura’s reception skills came to the fore, providing cover for a maternity leave. At the same time, she was able to involve herself in the wider responsibilities of the hospital and to continue her nursing studies in a full-time, practical environment. Lauren is currently studying her Certificate 4 studies in veterinary nursing.
Although starting life in Sydney, Laura ended up being a Trinity College student and so qualifies as a local! Whilst there, she tells us she starred on the athletics field (as a sprinter). She can’t remember her personal best times but does remember that she was usually first across the line!
At home, Laura has 2 dogs – Pippin, a Maltese x Chihuahua terrier, and Parker, a multi-breed boy, to keep her busy.
